01

Cardiology center for dogs and cats

A dedicated cardiology workflow with echocardiography, structured MVD/HCM staging, heartworm assessment and pre-anesthetic cardiac risk evaluation for high-risk patients.

02

Mitral valve disease (MVD) in dogs

Small-breed dogs with heart murmurs receive echo and chest radiographs, ACVIM staging (B1/B2/C/D), and medication and monitoring matched to stage — not symptoms alone.

  • Full echocardiography staging
  • Stage-based medication plans (ACVIM)
  • Recheck intervals matched to disease progression
03

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats

Cats with murmurs, gallop sounds, syncope or breed risk should have echo — HCM changes anesthetic planning significantly. We recommend screening before elective anesthesia or procedures.

04

Heartworm assessment

Heartworm still occurs in East Bangkok. We use antigen testing with imaging and echo when indicated to plan appropriate therapy.

05

Pre-anesthetic cardiac evaluation

For senior pets, brachycephalic breeds or animals with murmurs, pre-anesthetic echo helps the anesthesia team choose drugs, monitoring and recovery plans based on real cardiac status.

06

What we can complete in a single visit

Cardiac assessment needs more than a stethoscope. We combine chest radiographs, petMAP Graphic II blood pressure, ECG, Vcheck proBNP / NT-proBNP and echocardiography for a complete picture.

  • petMAP Graphic II — veterinary blood-pressure measurement with proper cuff sizing
  • ECG for arrhythmia, syncope and pre-anesthetic screening
  • Vcheck proBNP / NT-proBNP to complement — not replace — echo
  • Echocardiography by Dr. Wannasit Chantornvong (Cardiology certificate, University of Sydney)
  • Thoracic radiographs for heart size, lung pattern and pulmonary edema
07

PDA ligation in-house · coordinated V-clamp / TEER referral

Selected congenital cases — including PDA ligation — can be performed at PSAH with joint cardiology and anesthesia planning. Advanced mitral interventions such as V-clamp / TEER are coordinated to Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Kamphaeng Saen, after evaluation here.

Appointments preferred — walk-ins accepted, wait times vary

Cardiology work is deliberate and equipment-heavy. Appointments reserve team time and instruments. Walk-ins are accepted but may wait longer.

Standards on every case

  • Full-time board-certified soft-tissue surgeon and veterinary anesthesiologist on the same team
  • Harmonic blade and LigaSure for soft-tissue, orthopedic and oncologic surgery
  • Endoscopy: GI, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy and feline rhinoscopy
  • On-site defibrillator and a CPR-ready team at every anesthetic event
  • ABG-informed anesthesia planning for high-risk cases
  • Class IV Laser and TENS/EMS for rehabilitation and pain management
